Connecting People with the
Decisions That Shape Their Lives
People face the impacts of climate change, unequal opportunities, and weak public services in their daily lives. But the decisions, resources, and institutions that could help address these challenges are often far removed from the people most affected.
Coastal Development Partnership (CDP) works to close that gap.
We bring people, communities, institutions, and knowledge together so that development decisions are better informed, more inclusive, and more responsive to real needs.
We believe that lasting change happens when people have a voice, institutions listen and respond, and different actors work together toward shared goals.
Why Our Work Matters
Bangladesh has made significant progress in improving people's lives. Yet many communities still face growing climate risks, exclusion, inequality, and uncertainty.
Too often, people experience these challenges as connected problems, while solutions are delivered through separate projects, programmes, and institutions.
When this happens, local voices may be overlooked, efforts may not be well coordinated, and the people facing the greatest challenges may be left behind.
We believe development works better when people can help shape decisions and institutions are able to respond to their needs.
What We Do
Climate Justice
We work with communities and institutions to strengthen resilience, reduce climate risks, and support fair responses to climate change.
We help ensure that the experiences and priorities of people most affected by climate change are reflected in plans, policies, and investments.
Inclusive Development
We support people and communities to take part in the decisions that affect their lives.
Our work promotes local leadership, meaningful participation, and equal opportunities, especially for those who face barriers because of gender, disability, poverty, or social exclusion.
Accountable Governance
We help strengthen the relationship between people and the institutions that serve them.
By supporting transparency, participation, and accountability, we work to make public decisions more responsive, effective, and fair.
How We Work
We know that complex problems cannot be solved by one organization alone.
That's why our work focuses on helping people and institutions work together more effectively.
We Listen and Learn
We start by understanding people's experiences, local realities, and the challenges they face.
We Bring People Together
We create opportunities for communities, government agencies, civil society, and other partners to share ideas, build trust, and find common solutions.
We Strengthen How People Work Together
We help improve the processes, partnerships, and systems that support cooperation, participation, and accountability.
We Strengthen Collective Capability
We support communities and institutions to use their knowledge, skills, relationships, and resources to make decisions, coordinate action, and respond to changing challenges.
We Support Lasting Change
Our goal is to help create stronger institutions, more inclusive decisions, and better outcomes for people and communities.
Where We Work
CDP began its journey in the coastal areas of southwest Bangladesh.
Today, CDP maintains offices in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Bagerhat, and Jhenaidah.
Our programmes and partnerships connect us with communities and institutions in different parts of Bangladesh, while our national, regional, and global engagement brings local experience into wider policy discussions.

Building a More Just,
Inclusive, and Resilient Future
Lasting progress is not measured only by the projects completed or services delivered. It also depends on whether people can influence decisions, institutions can respond effectively, and communities can continue working together as circumstances change.
CDP connects people, knowledge, and institutions to strengthen collective capability, improve public decisions, and enable more inclusive, accountable, and resilient development.
